Today I started down the Oregon coast. It is a very different coast line than the upper
Washington coast. The most notable difference being the grass covered sand dunes. Its also
a tougher coast to navigate for me since I'm not familiar with it and highway 101 doesn't
always stay near to the coast. I ended up just turning every few miles to go back to the
coast and see if there was anything worth taking a picture of.

The first place I stopped was Ecola state park at the north end of Cannon Beach. There
was a fairly good vantage point above some large sea stacks that I took a few pictures of.

This is another vantage point overlooking Cannon Beach. Haystack rock can be
seen in the distance.

Next I went a little further down to the south end of Canon Beach. There is a really
large sea stack there named Haystack. One of my travels books says it is the most
photographed place on the Oregon coast. I wasn't going to take a picture of it at all but
it was pretty impressive and the colors in the ocean were really bright so I did anyway.

After that I spent the rest of the day scouting picture locations. I found
a few places which I will catch on my next trip through this area and I found a place or
two that I will get tomorrow morning before I start on the road south.
