Day 3

Well, I originally planning on leaving today but I have decided to stay one more night. I wanted to try and make it to Shi Shi beach but there are only two ways there. Shi Shi Beach is supposed to be the most beautiful beach in the park.

One route is by foot, a 20+ mile round trip beach walk and several places where you can get pinned against a cliff at low tide. The other looked more promising until I talked with a ranger this morning. There are several roads that can get you within 3-4 miles of the place but most are gated and the one that is not passes through the Makah Indian reservation and I was told that if  the land owners see you they get "violent." I've since decided that this won't be the trip where I make it to Point of Arches on Shi Shi Beach.

So instead, I headed off for some new places.  First stop was First Beach, on the La Push Indian reservations (a much friendlier bunch).

This is the bay at La Push Indian reservation.

Next I set off on a ~1 mile hike to Second Beach, a place I haven't been before. Turns out to be a fairly good place to take picture, although it was full of people and I really didn't want pictures of people.

Bad picture of a pretty nice set of rocks. Notice the 'free' video camera special effects.

Overall I really liked this beach, although it was a bad time to be there.
