Well today did not bring as many picture opportunities as I would have liked. I was
plagued by either bad picture taking weather (fog again), private property, or road
construction.
Most places where I could get too were severely fogged in. On one occasion I had
thought I had gotten far enough ahead of the fog but by the time I had everything set, the
fogged rolled in and literally drained all the color and contrast out of the scene. Since
I was already set up, I took a B&W but I don't expect it to be that spectacular.

Scenic Northern California coastline.

Again I passed mile after mile of scenic coast line, either fogged in or blocked by a
private fence. Many of the fences were ranch fences with farm animals like cows, sheep,
etc.. I was quite surprised that the coast side of the highway was being used as grazing
land. I would have thought that it was much more valuable than that. Some of those cows
have the best views of the coast line.

Infamous Northern California coastline fog.

Nice little hidden cove.

Typical view adjoining private land.

The third plague to strike was road re-pavement. There were places that I would have
liked to stop but the steam rollers were sort of in the way. I don't think I would have
been treated too kindly for stopping in the middle of their construction zone.

Nice but not easy to get to (unless you like cliffs).

Typical view shared by grazing cattle.

One of the last beaches I saw before heading inland.

So, today I again just covered lots of mile (around 200 again). I'm in San Francisco
now, staying at the Westen St. Francis Hotel in Union Square, were it cost more to park my
car for the night than most campgrounds I've stayed at. But I figured this was the one big
city I was going to pass through so I might as well stay at a nice place. Plus they have
great service here. I actually had someone dig out my tennis shoes from the back seat of
my parked car and bring them to my room. They were in my room in under 2 minutes from the
time I called. And I think the guy even bowed slightly after handing them to me.
Tomorrow I have some restocking to do and I might get the film I have shot so far
processed. After that I'm off to Yosemite for a day or so. I wasn't planning on going
there because of the crowds this time of year, but now that I'm a few days ahead of
schedule I figure I might as well make a quick pass through the valley and neighboring
redwood forest.
